The Almond Rocks are a variation of our famous peanut brittle and we got the inspiration for this chocolate creation from pastry chefs in Barcelona! The Chimane Indians leave everything completely to Mother Nature. This means that the cocoa trees are not pruned or fertilized, nature does its work. As soon as the large birds of prey fly just above the forest, almost against the tops of the cacao trees, the Chimane Indians sail their canoes to the islands where the cacao trees grow. There they collect the ripe cacao fruit and then take the cacao pods to designated gathering places. Here the cacao beans are fermented and dried in the sun. Because of our company logo, we thought it would be fun to release the Cru de Mendiants in a square and give it a contemporary twist. Originally, a Mendiants consists of four ingredients referring to the four beggars (Mendiants) of the Middle Ages, namely dried figs (Franciscans), raisins (Augustinians), almonds (Dominicans) and hazelnuts (Carmelites). Who does not know the old Dutch candy the Haagsche Hopje. We have transformed this candy with its unique coffee caramel taste into a luxury truffle! In collaboration with The Chocolate Shop from The Hague, we developed the Haagse Hopjes Truffles® in our chocolate shop in Tilburg. The truffle is filled with a ganache of coffee and caramel (secret recipe of our Pastry Chef Tom Stalpers) and coated with Grand Cru Maracaibo Créolo (49%). To finish it off, the truffles are still passed through finely ground candies and cocoa powder. By now this truffle is known in The Hague and far and wide as a luxury chocolate treat with a good cup of coffee or tea (or just secretly as a snack). These luxury chocolate truffles are packaged in a resealable plastic jar made from recycled PET bottles. Haagsche Hopjes myth There are different versions of the story about the origin of the famous candy 't Haagsche Hopje. For example, one Hendrik Hop is said to have left his cup of coffee with cream and sugar on the stove overnight. The next morning, this had turned into a hard lump, which tasted delicious! This Alcohol-Free sparkling Rosé is made from the Pinot Noir grape. Making Alcohol-free wine involves a slightly different process than making alcoholic wine. In fact, there is a step involved. First, the grapes are simply made into wine. Next, the wine is heated. You can compare this to the distillation method used to make whiskey, for example. Because of the heating, the alcohol goes out of the wine. This is done with a vacuum pump, so the wine needs to be heated between only between 28-38C. At higher temperatures, the wine would lose all its aromas and only a sour taste remains. Normally your package is delivered to the specified address the next business day (during the December month this may take longer due to busy times at Post NL).
Pick up your order in Tilburg (NL)
It is also possible to pick up your online order at our chocolate shop in Tilburg (Lovensekanaaldijk 47-Ka2). This is of course free of charge. In a personal e-mail we will inform you about your pick-up time.

We also deliver our chocolate abroad and ship to the following countries:

Plastic free shipment
Besides using sustainable chocolate, there is of course much more to do. This is why we ship all webshop orders plastic-free. This means that the order is packed in cardboard boxes with the FSC seal of approval. In addition, to protect the products during transport, we use filling material made of paper and we seal the boxes with tape made of paper.
